Tabletop Product shot options

I have a group of 6 products I’m doing a table top shot render of. Each of the products are in their own model set. I’d like to be able to play with different positioning of them, but right now the only way I can see to do this is to duplicate each model set, put them into a studio and move them around for each version I want to play with. Is there a way to do this without duplicating the model sets?

Photoshop has Layer Comps where it basically saves a state of the document, saving layer on/off, positions, layer effects, etc without having to duplicate the layers themselves. This is super handy for versioning and optioning for clients. Just looking to see if there is a way to do this in KS.

I’ve definitely heard requests for ‘states’ where you could save a file at a specific state. I’m not aware of a way to do it other than what you mentioned.

You could do it with an animation. What if you animate the model with a translation to each location? Then you have no geometry duplication. And you could then copy/paste the same animation to each model.

that’s actually a great way to do it, surprised that I didn’t think if that its exactly how I do it in Cinema 4d with cameras. I always mess up my cam angles when moving around the scene so I keyframe it and that saves its settings.
